Dr. Shwetank Bansal is a Consultant Psychiatrist & Psychotherapist at BLK Super Speciality Hospital and at Better Me Healthcare, New Delhi. After completing MBBS from University College of Medical Sciences (UCMS), New Delhi, he pursued MD in Psychiatry from the prestigious Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences (Delhi University), which is one of the premier neuroscience institutes in the country. Thereafter, he underwent training as a Post Doctoral Observer at the University of Michigan, USA. He has special interest in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), and has trained in it from the esteemed Beck Institute for Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Pennsylvania, USA. Archana Jadhav, grew up in a community which compelled her to not ask questions, and be quiet at the word ‘Periods’. She comes from the Govandi Slums of Mumbai… Govandi is known to have the Largest Dumping grounds in Mumbai, but also holds within itself much more potential in the form of Human Resources. She has seen before her all the struggles of life, be it from being brought up in a community where men have all the hires of life, to children being forced into labour at a very young age and the overall chaotic lives lived by individual in a slum setup and other informal settlements.
After hearing about Myna Mahila Foundation, through a few women who were a part of the organization and the cause they work towards; Ms. Archana was curious to know more about Myna. This same curiosity gave her a head start into Myna and her journey continues.
Ms. Archana who was shy to voice her opinions now has a platform where she speaks loud and clear about Taboos and Stigma associated with Periods, she educates about 400 young women every week through Myna’s Sponsor A Girl Program. Knowing the restrictions and how they affected her, she encourages her daughter and all the girls, to question the restrictions entitled when on periods and also empowers these girls to do everything without following unnecessary barriers in life.
She is involved in leading various awareness and intervention programs in Menstrual Hygiene Management, including training women workers in factories and urban slums across several locations. She has also been a member of the National Social Service, where she has led training on AIDS and WASH with over 3000 community members.
